Slavery by Another Name: A Documentary
Please join us at Library Headquarters in Manalapan for a screening of the documentary Slavery By Another Name on Thursday October 10 at 6:30 PM. This event is co-sponsored by the NAACP (Freehold Chapter).
This documentary challenges one of our country’s most cherished assumptions: the belief that slavery ended with Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. This documentary is based on the 2009 Pulitzer-Prize winning book, Slavery by Another Name: Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II by Douglas Blackmon.
Registration for this event is recommended. You can register online, in-person at the Reference Desk and over the phone at 732-431-7220 Ext. 7222
