2019 Discussion Series - October Topic: Positive Parenting (Grand parenting) Strategies
Presenter: Shari Carpman – MA, LPC, RPT
Shari Carpman is a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist with over 20 years of clinical and academic experience working with adults, children and teens. She has extensive individual and group experience in parent coaching, anxiety treatment, and helping adults and children through loss.
Positive parenting is an approach to discipline that helps parents achieve their immediate goals of getting their kids to do the right thing in the moment, as well as the longer-range goals of helping them become good people who are happy, successful, kind, responsible and even self-disciplined.
What We will Discuss:
• The seven core principles of positive parenting and how to apply them to all developmental stages.
• An effective four-step method for building life skills in children of all ages and abilities.
• How to help children and teens navigate the challenges/impact of social media.
